On the 27th of July, the companies Orsero Spa and Grupo Fernández, S.A. signed an agreement to integrate 100% of Hermanos Fernández López, S.A. into Orsero Spa.
Hnos. Fernández López, S.A., with head offices in Barcelona, is the second operator in the wholesale distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables sector in Spain. With a marketing volume of over 180,000 tonnes per year, it operates from its distribution platforms in Barcelona, Madrid and Alicante, and from its points of sale in 7 central markets all over Spain.
The Fernández family has been managing the activity since the 1960s and with this operation, through Grupo Fernández, S.A., it becomes the second largest shareholder in Orsero Spa, which in February, 2017, started public trading on the Italian AIM Market. The Fernández family will remain involved in the operational management of Hnos. Fernández López, S.A. and in turn, and as a consequence of a fine tuning of this agreement, it will have a seat on the Board of Directors of Orsero Spa.
The integration of Hnos. Fernández López, S.A. confirms the Orsero Group’s strategic plan to strengthen the distribution line in Southern Europe, with the certainty of being able to increase the company’s business turnover.
Orsero Spa will continue investing in the brand that belongs to the company, ‘F.lli Orsero’ a synonym of Extra Premium quality fruit, with the aim of consolidating the good results generated to date in terms of sales and popularity of the brand on the market.
“This acquisition strengthens our leadership throughout the Southern European market”, the Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Orsero Spa, Raffaella Orsero comments. “We strongly believe in the continuity of the company’s management, which will continue being for us, not only a solid commercial support, but also a true added value for the growth strategies over the next few years.”
“With this agreement, we are consolidating the stature of Hermanos Fernández López on an internationally relevant setting, with a strong commitment to pool operating and marketing synergies that make our service capacity stronger in the wholesale fruit and vegetable sector,” the general manager of the company, Luis Fernández states.
