Sakata Seed Ibérica has brought three new varieties of Piel de Sapo melon to the market, with which it has managed to complete the entire production cycle
The company has presented three new varieties of Piel de Sapo that has allowed it to complete a range meaning that the public can eat high quality fruit throughout the entire year: Grand Infinity, Grand Rivero and Miguelito.
The first of these is Grand Infinity, ideal for transplanting under glass and in the open air in Murcia. It stands out due to its great flavour, even when the crops have suffered from bad weather conditions.
The second, Grand Rivero, is the variety for medium sowing in Murcia, which is characterised by a good presentation combined with tasty, juicy flesh.
And the third, Miguelito, has been created for the export market. It is a small-sized variety (with fruit ranging between 1.5 and 2.5 kg), with very consistent flesh and high sugar levels.
Likewise, in 2015 Sakata introduced Grand Riado onto the market, a variety with a highly positive result, mainly in La Mancha. This melon has allowed the plantation cycle to be completed in La Mancha, where Don Quixote and Cordial were already present.
