At the 42nd edition of Macfrut, the international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector held from 6 to 8 May 2025 at the Rimini Expo Centre, ILIP participated as an exhibitor. The company also played a leading role in the new Berry Area, where it took part as a Gold Sponsor.
As one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of thermoformed packaging for the fresh produce sector, ILIP presented its latest innovations for berry packaging—solutions that combine product protection, extended shelf life and high sustainability standards.
All-round solutions
At Pavilion B3 – Stand 115, ILIP showcased its R-PET solutions, including the B40 and B46 Air Wave heat-sealable punnets. These are designed to protect delicate fruit with a domed base that cushions impact and eliminates the need for a bottom pad. The punnets are fully recyclable within the R-PET stream and offer a concrete response to market demands.
Visitors to the fair were also introduced to products made from T2T R-PET®, produced through ILIP’s closed-loop R-PET cycle. This virtuous process enables not only post-consumer bottles but also PET trays and punnets to be recycled, thanks to AMP Recycling—the recycling plant belonging to ILPA Group, which also owns ILIP.
Reducing raw materials
ILIP’s latest packaging innovations aim to reduce the use of raw materials and incorporate renewable materials alongside plastic. A prime example is ezy:split—the first hybrid punnet made of R-PET and cardboard, designed for premium fruit like strawberries and cherries. The cardboard support reduces plastic content by up to 45%, and the full separability of the two materials makes recycling easier.
Gold Sponsor in the Berry Area
At Macfrut 2025, ILIP reinforced its engagement with the berry sector through its presence in the Berry Area, with a dedicated stand and a 15-minute presentation as part of the expert and sponsor conference programme. The company’s talk focused on the importance of packaging in reducing food waste and improving berry preservation.

As Gianluca Tamagnini, Business Manager BU Fresh Produce Packaging, explained: “The Berry Area was a valuable opportunity for us to listen and exchange ideas. Packaging plays an increasingly crucial role in the fight against waste and in the sustainability of the fruit and vegetable supply chain. Our solutions are designed to help growers maintain product integrity while complying with the new European PPWR regulations that came into force earlier this year.”
Triple R sustainability
ILIP thus reaffirms its strategy based on the three Rs of sustainability – Reduce, Recycle, Renewable Resources – offering packaging solutions designed according to ecodesign principles to address the regulatory and environmental challenges of the future.
