This company from Malaga, Reyes Gutiérrez, continues working to achieve its goal of reaching 1,000 hectares of avocado crops on the Spanish mainland, and around 100 hectares of mangos in the Axarquia area.

Its avocado and mango plantations are located all around southern Spain and Portugal: 50 hectares in the Axarquia region of Malaga; 150 in the province of Cadiz; and 300 in Setubal (Portugal).

Within its business strategy, another of the company’s essential challenges is to promote sustainability in all its processes. Accordingly, one of the most important aspects consists of minimising the water consumption required for growing tropical fruit. “We are investing in technology and in highly qualified personnel to obtain the maximum yield with the minimum amount of water possible. The aim is to be able to continue supplying our fruit to all the homes in Europe,” the manager of Reyes Gutiérrez, Juan Antonio Reyes, explained to Fruit Today.

Part of the team from Reyes Gutiérrez will travel to the German capital city from the 7th to the 9th of February to visit their clients at Fruit Logistica, the reference trade fair in the world fruit and vegetable trade. An important meeting point for the sector, which they attend every year.
