For the first half of 2025, total fruit and vegetable exports to EU markets reached 233.2 million USD, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 44.1%. Most major product categories showed substantial double- and even triple-digit gains, with the exception of jackfruit and lychee, which posted declines.
Passion fruit emerged as the top-performing export, generating 58.59 million USD between January and June — up 112.9% over the same period in 2024. This single product accounted for over a quarter of Vietnam’s total fruit and vegetable export value to the EU.
Other standout performers include:
Mangoes: 39.9 million USD (+28.6%)
Pineapples: 19.5 million USD (+207.9%)
Coconuts: 18.3 million USD (+49.1%)
Lemons: 9.8 million USD (+37.7%)
Dragon fruit: 9.36 million USD (+10.5%)
This surge in exports has been largely attributed to the advantages of the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which has significantly reduced tariffs and streamlined market access. Additionally, a strong rebound in consumer demand across the EU and diminished local production — due to adverse weather conditions in several European countries — have boosted import reliance on suppliers like Vietnam.
