Camposol launches ORIGEN, its global breeding programme

Camposol, a global benchmark in the Peruvian agro-industrial sector, officially unveiled ORIGEN, its new Breeding Programme
CAMPOSOL

This initiative marks a milestone in the company’s evolution and opens a new chapter in its history, integrating nearly three decades of field agricultural experience with advanced science and technology within a strategic investment plan focused on long-term growth.

Conceived from the outset with a global vision, ORIGEN is a varietal innovation programme designed to address the sector’s key challenges: productivity, consistent quality and adaptability to the world’s most demanding markets.

“ORIGEN is not the result of improvisation. It is the outcome of more than a decade of research and learning specifically focused on developing our genetic programme, and it represents a key pillar of our long-term strategy to build, from genetics, a stable and consistent supply model from a single origin,” said Ricardo Naranjo, CEO of Camposol.

Naranjo added that the programme approaches genetics from a responsible, long-term perspective, working from the ground up by improving natural processes to deliver more precise, consistent solutions aligned with real market needs.

Inspiration and value proposition

The name ORIGEN combines the concept of origin with the word gene, reflecting the essence of the programme: the development of advanced genetics focused on attributes that create value throughout the entire value chain — flavour, firmness, consistency, visual quality and productive performance — aligned with the expectations of growers, customers and consumers worldwide.

ORIGEN encompasses the development of varieties with high agronomic performance and strong commercial appeal, conceived from the beginning with a clear long-term vision.

First generation: Sol One and Maia Blue

As part of the launch, Camposol introduced the first generation of varieties developed under the ORIGEN programme.

Sol One stands out for its high yield, firmness and consistency, delivering production stability and excellent visual quality.

Maia Blue, in turn, is characterised by its attractive appearance, natural shine and smooth texture — the result of precise and balanced genetics designed for the most demanding markets.

“These varieties have been developed with a very clear focus on the attributes that truly generate value in the most demanding markets, such as flavour, firmness, consistency and productive performance. Each new variety will have its own identity, essence and name, because behind each one there is science, dedication and a forward-looking vision that defines our ORIGEN,” explained Federico Maggio, Head of the Blueberry Business Unit at Camposol.

Scaling and investment: towards a single-origin model from Peru

ORIGEN forms part of Camposol’s broader strategic and investment plan. In 2025, the company inaugurated Invitrolab, its biofactory located in Chao (Peru), with the capacity to produce more than five million plants per year. This infrastructure supports a renewal and growth plan that includes the planting of more than 800 hectares in 2026, alongside a progressive rollout over the next five years through new renewal and expansion investments.

“This approach allows us to consolidate a single-origin business model from Peru, with a stable and consistent year-round supply, leveraging the competitive advantages of the Peruvian coastal valleys together with the attributes delivered by the ORIGEN programme,” added Ricardo Naranjo.

The presentation of ORIGEN at Fruit Logistica aligns with Camposol’s internationalisation and global positioning strategy, as well as with its contribution to the development and international projection of the Peruvian agro-export sector.

The launch of ORIGEN is the result of collaborative work and the long-term vision of Camposol’s teams, reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and the responsible development of agriculture.
