The official price for a carton of Ecuadorian bananas for 2026 has been set at US$7.75, an increase of US$0.50 compared with 2025. The price was agreed on 8 December by producers and exporters during a meeting to establish the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for bananas for the coming year.
Agriculture Minister Juan Carlos Vega said the agreement guarantees producers a fair price and contributes to preserving the competitiveness of Ecuador’s banana sector in the international market.
It has been a challenging year for the Ecuadorian banana industry, with diseases and climate change affecting production. Nevertheless, official data from Acorbanec show that exports reached 314.24 million cartons between January and October, representing a 3.86% increase compared with the same period last year.
