Citrosol returns to Fruit Logistica this February in Berlin to showcase its two main innovations: the CATsystem®, a finalist for the prestigious Fruit Logistica Innovation Award Technology 2025, and GREENFOG-AS, a fungicide and disinfectant treatment in smoke format.
CATSystem®
Fruit Logistica is considered the world’s leading trade fair for the fresh produce sector, and Citrosol sees it as the ideal place to present its CATsystem®, an integrated solution that optimizes connectivity and real-time control of application systems, ensuring efficiency and sustainability in post-harvest processes.
Development of this solution began in 2017, resulting in the world’s first Automatic Control System for fungicide treatments. The CATsystem® maintains a constant concentration of fungicides, disinfectants, and food additives in post-harvest treatment solutions within a predefined range of values.
During post-harvest, insufficient fungicide concentrations can lead to rot, while excessive levels may exceed the Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) legally established or even stricter levels set by distributors. The CATsystem® ensures consistent fungicide concentrations through real-time solution analysis and adjustments.
This groundbreaking innovation has no equivalent in the market. As a disruptive advancement in post-harvest treatment applications, CATsystem® has earned its place as a finalist for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award Technology 2025.
GREENFOG-AS
GREENFOG-AS will also make its debut at the Berlin trade fair. It is a “zero-residue” treatment in smoke format with proven effectiveness against a wide range of fungi that affect fruits and vegetables. Its versatility makes it an ideal tool for markets with high sustainability standards.
This fumigant is highly effective for surface treatments on fresh citrus fruits. GREENFOG-AS is a dual-action solution with excellent preservation properties, suitable for treating fruit in storage rooms and containers.
Its active ingredient is a green chemistry compound (approved for post-harvest citrus treatment), classified as a GRAS substance by the American FDA and a “minimum risk” fungicide by the EPA. It may be the only “chem-free” tool that allows residue-free fruit treatment. Its use is highly recommended for “zero-residue” or “chem-free” citrus lines and even for reducing residues from conventional fungicides.
Citrosol’s International Presence
This year, Citrosol anticipates that its stand at Fruit Logistica will become a meeting point for visitors from Egypt, Morocco, Greece, Turkey, and South America, particularly South Africa, Peru, and Uruguay. They also hope to connect with buyers interested in technologies that reduce water and carbon footprints.
