Cualin Quality, a ‘Tomato factory’

With a forecast of almost 12 million kilos, Cualin Quality is immersed in a regeneration and growth process

Cualin Quality, based in Eastern Almeria and specialising in the production and marketing of vine cherry tomatoes, is immersed in a regeneration and growth process, with its sights set on the future.

The flagship of this ambitious policy is its tomato. Its ‘Divino Imperial’ stands out amongst a range of products and brands selected to offer consumers a safe choice.

The secret for achieving this lies in the care taken in each detail and the passion in each phase of the production process. Since it landed in Spain from the Netherlands, back in 2000, Cualin Quality has been committed to sustainability and respect for the environment as the “nonnegotiable” way of producing. This was affirmed by Juan José López, General Manager, over a year ago.

During this time, the company has continued to back the work lines that it had already developed, at the same time as growing and evolving. A new Communications and Marketing Department has been created that will start up a new line of modern corporate image, consistent with the company’s raison d’être. Its high technology greenhouses in Almeria are the stars of the new logotype.

This technification extends to the automation systems in most of the field and warehouse processes. Added to this is the original construction in glass of the greenhouses or the regeneration of drainage water, with water condensation systems that allow the collection of 25,000 m3/year and an innovative cogeneration plant providing heat, electricity and CO2, from natural gas. “As I understand it, the ‘Tomato factory’ concept has reached its maximum expression at Cualin.”

Special presence on European markets

The excellence of ‘Divino Imperial’ and its other brands have made it a usual presence on the shelves of the main European supermarkets (Spain, Germany, and Scandinavia).

With a forecast of almost 12 million kilos, it is the start of an exciting campaign in which it will have a new Sales Manager, and they will incorporate another asset to the Human Resources Department in the near future. “We need to build up a solid organisation to be able to stand up to the growth that the future will bring.”
