All of this is possible thanks to a variety study and the commitment to also producing strawberries in Avila during the summer period. “We are seeking to guarantee availability of quality fruit for our clients,” the Chairman of Cuna de Platero, Francisco José Gómez, explained.
One of the cooperative’s commitments over the past few campaigns has been related to its own R&D+i, resulting in the bilberry ‘Cupla’, which will once again be one of the stars of the trade fair. Cupla is an early variety, easy to harvest, with not very demanding water and fertiliser requirements. It is an early, fresh bilberry, which is highly appreciated in Europe and in other countries.
This will be the first trade fair after the re-election of Francisco José Gómez as the Chairman, who is directing the cooperative’s Governing Council with a team of 11 people, of which 9 have seen their positions renewed for another three years. “This professional trade fair is very important for all the people forming part of Cuna de Platero, since at it and with it we will start the new strawberry campaign in Huelva.”
