Advanced irrigation technologies that combine productivity, efficiency and sustainability were the solutions presented by Irritec at Macfrut. The Italian company operates globally in support of agriculture and the evolving demands of food production.

Over the three-day event, the Irritec stand and two themed exhibition fields welcomed operators, technicians and delegations from Europe and Africa, enabling direct dialogue with company experts on installed systems, crops and real-world applications. Once again, Irritec reaffirmed both its international focus and the strategic role of irrigation systems—not only in the future of agriculture, but also in achieving global food security. Through tailored solutions, innovative projects and a strong commitment to sustainability, the company continues to support quality food production and promote an efficient, responsible, and sustainable farming model.“We’ve always believed that the growth of essential and strategic sectors like agriculture—especially fruit and vegetable production—requires concrete innovation, strong professional skills and a long-term vision built on the sustainability of the entire value chain,” says Giulia Giuffrè, CSO and Board Member at Irritec.

“That’s why our technicians work closely with sector operators every day, offering smart solutions to irrigate and nourish crops, while promoting high-quality, sustainable food production that respects natural resources.”

Strong attendance at the themed fields and major interest in the Green Fields® project

Field demonstrations drew great interest, proving the value of Irritec’s research, design, and system customisation capabilities. The aim is twofold: to provide practical support to sector professionals and to clearly explain the technologies on display.

In today’s increasingly interconnected and sustainability-driven agriculture, integrated management of water, nutrients, energy and information is essential. That’s why Irritec offers a complete solution, far beyond water delivery alone—bringing together mechanics, electronics and digital systems to optimise resources and improve the quality of agricultural output.

Irritec’s offering includes Multibar drip tapes (now available with the Camo® texture from the Armonia® line, blending aesthetics and functionality for seamless landscape integration), water filtration systems, Commander control units, and Irritec’s new smart fertigation system. This latest system is built on a Decision Support System (DSS) platform with predictive capabilities, enabling effective agronomic recommendations and optimised management of water and nutrients—ultimately enhancing the nutritional value of agricultural products.

In the field area dedicated to fruit trees (peach, apple, and pear), Irritec showcased the value of its solutions for the sector, alongside the Green Fields® project. This initiative is aimed at reducing agriculture’s environmental impact throughout the full lifecycle of irrigation products, with a focus on limiting CO₂ emissions. Launched in 2015, the project supports the creation of a circular economy system to recover plastic from irrigation systems. It includes a used tape collection service that promotes recycling and reuse of raw materials. Green Fields® offers farmers a solution that eliminates disposal costs and provides tangible sustainability benefits.

In the exhibition area dedicated to soilless crops, visitors discovered innovative systems for ginger, blueberries and asparagus, with a special focus on fertigation systems as key tools to improve quality and sustainability in greenhouse production.
