Jingold bets on Spain with its yellow-flesh Jintao kiwi

The Italian kiwi specialist has begun marketing the first 200 tonnes of Spanish-grown Jintao yellow-flesh kiwifruit and is expanding its offer to Iberian retailers with its premium red- and green-flesh varieties. An additional 1,500 tonnes of yellow kiwis from Portugal will also arrive, reinforcing a supply chain that is increasingly integrated, sustainable and aligned with market needs

Jingold’s expansion in Spain has entered a new phase. The Italian company, a global kiwi specialist and the brand offering the largest number of varieties on the market, has started marketing the first 200 tonnes of Spanish-grown Jintao yellow kiwifruit. This strategic step — still little known among operators in the Iberian market — marks the beginning of a more structured and visible local presence.

The Jintao variety, for which Jingold holds the exclusive global licence, is prized worldwide for its sweet, golden flesh and balanced, pleasant flavour, capable of appealing to all types of consumers.

Local production of Jintao, made possible through partnerships with selected growers in the most suitable agricultural areas of the Iberian Peninsula, represents a significant milestone: it offers Spanish retailers a market-origin, long shelf-life product of superior quality, fully aligned with Jingold’s brand standards.

Additional northern hemisphere production on the way

This supply will soon be joined by 1,500 tonnes of yellow kiwis from Portugal, destined for the Iberian Peninsula and the rest of Europe, along with Jingold’s established offer of yellow-, red- and green-flesh kiwifruit from Italy and Greece, which over the years have built the company’s strong reputation among Spanish retailers.

A complete assortment for Spanish retailers

The expansion project extends beyond yellow kiwis. Jingold is present in Spain’s main retail chains with its full portfolio of premium yellow-, red- and green-flesh varieties, designed to meet diverse consumer needs and boost in-store category performance. Soon to be available across Spanish retail are:

Exotic Red, the red-flesh kiwi in which the company is Europe’s leading producer, known for its dark interior and striking appearance, intense sweetness and aromatic complexity, offering a truly unique taste experience.

Jingold Bliss, the exclusive green-flesh variety (Boerica), characterised by high sugar content, firm texture, and an elegant elongated shape, meeting the highest expectations for both quality and presentation.

The presence of these varieties on Spanish shelves will further strengthen Jingold’s positioning as an international benchmark in varietal innovation, agronomic expertise, and consistent quality throughout the commercial season.

Towards a more integrated supply chain closer to the consumer

The launch of local Jintao production represents the first step in Jingold’s broader development plan aimed at establishing an integrated, sustainable, and short Iberian supply chain. This strategy aligns with a well-established trend in Spanish retail: boosting local origin and guaranteeing consumers fresh, traceable products.

The simultaneous availability of all northern hemisphere productions will also enable Jingold to extend the commercial window and ensure year-round continuity of supply, providing retailers with a stable and premium assortment.

With this new milestone, Jingold reinforces its growth strategy in the Iberian market and its role as a European player capable of combining varietal innovation, agronomic expertise and a sustainable supply chain increasingly aligned with consumer needs.
