With an estimated production of around 1,800 tonnes from approximately 360 hectares of land under cultivation, Dulcis™ kicks off the new season with significant volume growth compared to the previous year and a quality level that underpins the fruit’s success. The harvest, already completed in the earliest orchards in Emilia-Romagna and underway in other regions, has yielded excellent-quality fruit, with a particularly high sugar content (°Brix) and ripening approximately two weeks earlier than the Hayward variety, thus opening the season for Italian green kiwifruit.
Dulcis™ arrives in the larger supermarket chains and wholesale markets this week, the first of November, as the 2025/26 campaign shifts into gear.
Following the excellent response achieved last year in Italy, the goal for the new season is also to expand its presence in Europe, with the first trial shipments destined for Germany, Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
In terms of production, the variety continues to demonstrate its resilience and adaptability to climate change, ensuring high yields and consistent quality even in environments characterised by hot summers and milder winters. Calabria, in particular, stands out as a new key growing area, becoming one of the main producing regions in just a few years alongside Emilia-Romagna, Lazio and Veneto.

Product quality and market-driven focus remain at the heart of the project: the 2025 growing-season was favoured by benevolent climate conditions, with an ideal balance between summer temperatures and water availability. These conditions allowed for sweet, firm and aromatic fruit, highly valued by consumers since the brand’s initial launch.
“The success of Dulcis™ is also measured by our relationship with consumers who last year showed amazing enthusiasm for the fruit and appreciated its natural sweetness and balanced texture,” says Mirco Montefiori, President of Dulcis Kiwifruit Company. “With the new season in progress, our goal is to strengthen this connection, bringing to market a product meeting the high standards of quality and distinctive characteristics that differentiate Dulcis™ from other kiwi varieties.”
Dulcis™ is a 100% Italian-grown premium fruit, which owes its development to collaboration between Agrintesa-Alegra, Apofruit Italia and Orogel Fresco, and New Plant of Forlì together with the University of Udine and the University of Bologna.
With rapidly growing volumes and increasingly widespread distribution, the new season represents a further step towards consolidating the brand in the domestic market and entering the wider European one
