Proexport is calling all international retailers at Berlin

The members of Proexport will take advantage of the trade fair Fruit Logistica to emphasise the work by the Spanish production companies, in spite of the difficulties they are facing

From the 7th to the 9th of February, the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers-Exporters of the Region of Murcia (Proexport), and its member companies will be present at the trade fair ‘Fruit Logistica 2024’, which is being held in Berlin. This is an important annual meeting point, in the middle of the winter campaign, and which this year they are attending with the goal of “strengthening the trust that supermarkets, wholesalers, importers and processors of food have placed in the producers from the Region of Murcia and south-eastern Spain,” according to Mariano Zapata, Chairman of the organisation.

This year, the European sector is facing a campaign marked by the uncertainty of the weather conditions and the shortage of rainfall. “We are also highly concerned about the rising cost of transport and logistics, a factor that we must now address with clients. However, we are ready to respond to the needs of the market and we want to transmit a message of reassurance on this point to our clients.”

This year, the companies belonging to Proexport who are exhibiting at the German fair are: Agrícola Santa Eulalia; Agromediterránea Hortofrutícola; Agromontes Fresh Group; Agrodolores El Mirador; Cricket; Fruveg Sdad. Coop.; G’S España Holdings; Hortofortini España; Kettle Produce España; Mercagrisa; SAT 9359 Bonnysa; Procomel; Sol y Tierra Campo de Cartagena; Verdimed; Surinver el grupo Sdad.Coop.; DifrusaExport; Fruca Marketing; Agridemur Marketing; S.A.T. 9855 Primaflor; Looije Águilas; Grupo Hosrtofrutícola Paloma; Pozo Sur; Agromark; Deilor; Soc. Coop. Sagrado Corazón de Jesús (Sacoje); KernelExport; and Agrar Systems.

Most of Proexport’s exhibitors are to be found in the space set aside for the Region of Murcia in hall 18 (Spain). They, as well as those attending as visitors, are coming to the fair with their sales teams and executives, in order to hold meetings and direct negotiations with clients.

“Those of us who attend Fruit Logistica know that it is the ideal place to strengthen the market share that our agriculture has in Europe and the world. It is also useful to find common ground and agree on strategies with clients that allow a response to be given to the fruit and vegetable consumers’ demands, at the same time as becoming an opportunity to increase sales to other markets outside the European continent,” Mariano Zapata explains.

“We will take advantage of our attendance at ‘Fruit Logistica’ to pass on the important commitment made by our companies in R&D+I and sustainability to all our clients, as well as to all the other agents in the sector. Technological developments and innovation to improve efficiency and productivity. Advances in good agricultural practices, improved nutrition and reduction of environmental impacts. We are talking about digitalisation or the incorporation of new variety developments, but also about innovations that are helping us to be efficient and a worldwide reference in water management,” Zapata concludes.

In the 2022/2023 campaign, the fruit and vegetable companies from the Region of Murcia exported 2.15 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables for a value of 3,047 million euros. Of this total, 640,000 tonnes were exported to Germany, followed by France with over 340,000 tonnes and the United Kingdom, with almost 302,000 tonnes.
