This is an unprecedented milestone in Agroseguro’s 45-year history and exceeds the previous record set in 2018, when 857,949 hectares were affected.
Estimated compensation for events such as hailstorms, torrential or persistent rain, and wind has reached €446 million in 2025 (mostly already paid), the highest amount ever recorded in a single year.
Agroseguro highlighted that the reported damage corresponds to 27 different insurance lines, including fruit crops (€152 million), extensive arable crops (€106 million), wine grapes (€64 million), vegetables (€49 million) and citrus (€37 million).
Castilla-La Mancha, with €78 million, and Aragón, with €68 million, were the regions with the highest compensation payouts due to storm activity.

When adding other risks covered by agricultural insurance, estimated compensation for 2025 (as of 31 October) amounts to €694 million. According to the statement, this figure reflects a climate reality marked by increasingly frequent and intense weather events, as well as the steady rise in insured acreage.
Storms occurred throughout 2025, intensifying in May, June (with 460,000 damaged hectares that month) and July. The one-million-hectare threshold was reached at the end of October after several isolated storms.
To manage such an extensive area of claims, Agroseguro has engaged a team of around 350 collaborating adjusters.
