Syngenta: innovation in regenerative agriculture

Syngenta will show its latest developments in innovation, aimed at boosting Regenerative Agriculture

According to Ronan de Hercé, General Manager at Syngenta Iberia: “Syngenta has a strong commitment to environmental management and innovation in agriculture. The agricultural sector is changing to face up to the challenges, but this change must be faster. At Syngenta, we believe that boosting regenerative agriculture practices could speed up and support this transformation of our global food systems.”

One of the main new developments is the biological line. Last year the company won an award for innovation at the trade fair’s innovation prizes for its latest generation bio-stimulant, Persicop. A biological innovation that encourages the retention capacity of the soil and effectively reduces losses due to Nitrogen leaching, improving the fertility and health of the soil. This year it is completing its portfolio with Nutribio N and Cepacet, both new biological solutions that improve the physicochemical characteristics of the soil.

In tomatoes, at a time of change throughout the entire sector owing to the entry of ToBFRV, Syngenta is presenting its varieties Lansor, Barosor, Ibeth, Quri and Waqu, already on the market, along with another seventeen varieties of saladette, vine, cherry and baby plum tomatoes, which are currently in a trial phase. They will also present courgette and cucumber varieties that are resistant to the New Delhi virus.

In melons, Syngenta is presenting IDEAL™ MELON, a cantaloupe type of melon that is characterised by its excellent conservation and long shelf-life without losing any of its classic melon aromas.

Regarding the digital sector, Syngenta will present its platform ‘Cropwise’, which allows the health of the crops to be analysed from anywhere, in order to streamline the identification of problems in the fields. It also includes a field notebook.

In this respect, Syngenta is also presenting its “Interra®Scan” device to the trade fair’s INNOVATION HUB awards. A groundbreaking scanner that offers high resolution soil mapping of up to 27 layers of information, giving producers accurate information about the health of the soil on their farms. Its detection technology provides mapping of all the properties of the soil.
