The seed company HM.Clause, the worldwide leading company in melon seed sales, is adding hectares of its variety Valdemar F1, the successor to the ‘star’ of its catalogue, Valverde F1, after two decades of success on the market. Since the launch of Valdemar F1 in 2021, many brands have set their sights on this premium piel de sapo melon. And the fact is that Valverde F1’s qualitative characteristics have been joined by others, such as resistance to aphids and powdery mildew, along with an earlier harvest.
Focused on greenhouse crops in Almeria, the variety Valdemar F1 is recommended for transplants from mid-January to mid-March, coinciding with the same segment as Valverde F1. Amongst its characteristics, the average strength of the plant stands out, which gives a high production, and regarding the fruit, its high organoleptic qualities excel, as well as the outside grooving and homogeneity of the fruit. As for its resistances, in addition to having the aforementioned resistance to powdery mildew, it is also resistant to Fusarium, MNSV and aphids (it contains the VAT gene.)
For all these reasons, farmers can champion piel de sapo melons better and price them while still in their greenhouses, sources from HM.CLAUSE indicate.
The seed company is holding onto its leadership thanks to materials that meet the needs of the entire chain, from the source, the fields, to the consumer’s table.
Gladiador F1, a new development in broccoli
In another segment, brassicas, HM.CLAUSE has a new broccoli variety this year, Gladiador F1. Quality, high yield and post-harvest are the main characteristics of this winter material, with a 90 to100-day cycle. Focused on October transplants, sources at the seed company affirm that the variety is the perfect complement to its already well-known Trajano F1.
Gladiador F1 stands out due to its earliness, good yield and high quality, with fine-grained heads, domo-shape, compact and very homogeneous heads.
With Gladiador F1 and Trajano F1, HM.CLAUSE offers quality varieties for winter broccoli. A catalogue that is completed in the summer cycle with Hapa F1.
