María Forcada, Director of Innovation at Verdifresh, highlights the company’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its packaging, stating that 92% of the plastics used are now fully recyclable.

As part of this strategy, the company has optimized materials through a specific improvement plan for each one, where industrialization tests have played a key role, allowing the detection and resolution of potential issues before implementing new materials.

One of the most notable advancements is the use of PLA combined with kraft, a material that reduces reliance on traditional plastics and provides a more sustainable alternative.

Additionally, Verdifresh has introduced several key milestones in its packaging strategy, including:

  • A 20% reduction in the thickness of polypropylene plates
  • The introduction of bamboo forks
  • Replacing EVOH with high-barrier PET
  • Optimizing PET tray thicknesses
