According to figures from the Market Intelligence and Foreign Trade System (SICEX), in September Colombia exported 14,611 tons of Hass avocados, a 32.9% increase compared to the same month last year, consolidating this fruit as one of the country’s most promising agricultural products.

So far this year, total exports have reached 147,013 tons, representing a 46.6% increase compared to 2024. These results position Hass avocados as Colombia’s third most exported fruit. In terms of destination markets, Europe, the United States, and Canada remain the main importers of Colombian avocados.

According to Katheryn Mejía, Executive President of Corpohass: “Behind every exported ton lies the effort of hundreds of growers who make Colombia a territory of quality. Today, the world values not only our flavor but also our ability to produce all year round with social, environmental, and technical responsibility.”

Part of the success of Colombian Hass avocados lies in the country’s unique soils, which offer natural drainage that prevents waterlogging and reduces the risk of root rot—a critical factor for this crop. The soils are also rich in minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium, have a slightly acidic pH that facilitates balanced nutrient absorption, and feature a structure that promotes strong, extensive root development.

Another key advantage is Colombia’s strategic geographic location, providing access to both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, allowing for shorter shipping times to international markets. Combined with year-round production, sustainable practices, traceability, and consistent quality, these factors have strengthened the country’s competitiveness and reputation among global consumers.

In addition to these natural advantages, the sector has been consolidating a sustainability-driven development model. Through the concept of Sustainable Productive Chains, the industry promotes active collaboration among all actors in the Hass avocado value chain to improve productivity, protect natural capital, and enhance rural livelihoods.

This strategy addresses the **three pillars of sustainability—economic, social, and environmental—**aiming to build a resilient sector capable of facing economic and climate challenges while fostering equity and quality of life in avocado-growing regions.

“The quality of Colombian Hass avocados must remain a permanent guarantee if we want to stay among the world’s leading exporters. This means working rigorously at every stage of the chain—from on-farm practices and fruit selection to packaging, traceability, and final delivery. Our commitment to excellence is what will allow us to continue growing and strengthening trust in international markets,” added Mejía.

Amid this strong market momentum, the seventh edition of Territorio Aguacate will take place in Medellín on November 5 and 6. Organized by Corpohass in partnership with Agrilink, the event will bring together leading figures from Latin America’s Hass avocado industry to discuss knowledge, business, and innovation.

The program will include guided tours of farms, packing plants, and other key points in the supply chain, along with an academic agenda, business roundtables, a commercial exhibition, and experiential activities showcasing the full potential of this thriving industry.
