El Secreto de Mi Tierra has kicked off its Piel de Sapo melon harvest with excellent prospects, reporting a 13% increase in sales compared to last year. The company expects to exceed 10 million kilos harvested, thus maintaining its usual volume with the high quality and medium size demanded by today’s consumers.
For this campaign, the company has dedicated more than 150 hectares to the cultivation of this melon variety in the Region of Murcia—an area that alone concentrates over 3,000 hectares of this crop. It also continues its expansion in Castilla-La Mancha, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable and high-quality agriculture.
Although sowing was slightly delayed by rain, the weather conditions turned out to be highly favourable for Piel de Sapo melon, leading to a notable improvement in fruit quality, with higher nutrient concentration, more intense flavour, and firmer, juicier texture.

“The 13% increase in our sales reflects consumers’ trust in our gourmet Piel de Sapo melon, the result of years of work focused on quality and sustainability,” explained José María Buendía Samper, Head of Crops at El Secreto de Mi Tierra. “In a context where national melon consumption has been declining, this growth confirms we’re on the right path—offering a differentiated product with superior flavour and a responsible production model from the source,” the agricultural company added.
El Secreto de Mi Tierra thus reaffirms its commitment to proper production practices, steady growth, and the delivery of high-quality products—even in a rapidly changing market.
