Lettuce Attraction, the global lettuce and salad event

Lettuce is the Star Product at Fruit Attraction 2023. This leading role will be reflected at the event ‘Lettuce Attraction: a global celebration of leafy veggies’.
Murcia (35)

From the 3rd to the 5th of October, organised by Proexport, in different areas of the IFEMA trade fair centre in Madrid, visitors to Fruit Attraction will be able to enjoy a complete programme of activities that reflect the productive, commercial and gastronomic importance of one of the most popular vegetables in the world, of which Spain is the first exporter in the world: the lettuce.

There will be an enormous kitchen garden of growing lettuces (over 50 m2), located on the terrace of the central avenue, between halls 5 and 6 to surprise visitors. Proexport has worked alongside the company Prima-Ram, an expert in advanced irrigation systems to recreate a farm at the trade fair to show how this produce is grown in south-eastern Spain, with different type types of varieties, lines, irrigation technologies and sustainable practices.

The Factoría Chef space (connecting point between halls 6 and 8) will house five spectacular show cooking displays by prestigious chefs, which will show the reason for the important position held by the lettuce in the kitchen. ‘Lechuga snack: the cool spoon’, organised by Rijk Zwaan; Vegtteleria by Florette: ‘the freshness of the kitchen garden turned into a liquid trend,’ or ‘Different salads,’ by Primaflor, will be some of the shows with the lettuce playing the starring role as a healthy gastronomic product.

And for production and retail professionals who want to discover the keys to success in the lettuce and leafy vegetable sector, on the afternoons of Tuesday, the 3rd, and Wednesday, the 4th, there will be interesting short presentations and debates with some of the main European producers and experts. They will take place in the 7-9 connecting point, where most of the Spanish lettuce producers will be located.

Lettuce Attraction is organised by Proexport and its associate producers, in close collaboration with Fruit Attraction and FEPEX. It is sponsored by the ‘Invest in Murcia’ programme of the Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia, as well as seed companies such as BASF, Ramiro Arnedo, Enza Zaden and RijkZwaan.
