The company leading the project, Huete Greenhouses, has completed the second phase of the glazing plan.

Anti-pest nets have been installed on the windows to create a protected environment against insects and other pests, reducing the need for pesticides and improving plant health. Additionally, movement within the greenhouse has been optimised with the construction of new anterooms to facilitate the flow of people and equipment while minimising the risk of cross-contamination.

Air circulation will be key to maintaining optimal conditions. Horizontal air recirculators have been installed in the anterooms and vertical ones inside the greenhouse. These devices will create active microclimates that reduce humidity and lower energy costs. A high-pressure misting system, known as the Fog System, has also been added to maintain ideal humidity levels.

Climate sealing

The cultivation tables will also play a key role in the redesign. Movable trays with microtunnels have been installed to improve climate sealing and system efficiency, allowing for more precise microclimate management around the plants.

In terms of heating, a new boiler and a modulating gas burner with overhead pipes have been installed, ensuring efficient and uniform heating—crucial for the plant acclimatisation zones.

Irrigation and water control have been optimised with pressure units, irrigation carts and micro-sprinkler systems. These ensure efficient watering and deliver the exact amount of water needed. Electrical systems and climate control have also been improved with new control panels and advanced sensors, enabling a more responsive adaptation to environmental conditions.

Supporting infrastructure includes a cutting and planting room and a cold storage chamber, ensuring the final product’s quality and providing appropriate spaces for handling and storing the raspberries.
