The sector faces the new campaign with positive prospects. In 2025, national production has increased by 20% after a previous season marked by drought and irrigation restrictions. According to Compañía Aguacatera del Sur, the combination of greater natural crop development, together with the expansion of planted area and the technification of farms, explains this increase. Rainfall and the situation of the La Viñuela reservoir, which now exceeds 50% of its capacity, have also supported this positive evolution. However, the company stresses the need to promote hydraulic infrastructure, such as desalination plants, to guarantee the future of subtropical crops in the Axarquía and the Granada coast.
Meanwhile, organic avocados are expanding into new areas, although their development continues to be conditioned by the price differential compared to conventional avocados (+35-50% per kg).
