The campaign has been assessed positively, with an 11% increase in exports compared to 2024, reaching a total of 43,604 tonnes. The committee also analysed the conditions for taking out agricultural insurance and reviewed possible promotional actions in destination markets.

The FEPEX cherry committee gave a positive assessment of the 2025 campaign, both in terms of volumes and prices. Exports from January to September 2025, according to data from the Department of Customs and Excise processed by FEPEX, grew by 11% in volume compared to 2024, reaching 43,604 tonnes, while value rose by 38% to €188 million.

The meeting also analysed the conditions for contracting agricultural insurance, which are considered insufficient or not adapted to the needs of cherry production and marketing. This situation is leading to lower uptake, prompting the committee to call for improvements to be included in this insurance scheme.

Promotional actions

Cherry producers and marketers grouped under FEPEX also discussed possible promotional actions in destination markets such as China. It is expected that, once the export protocol to this country is concluded in August this year, exports could begin in the next campaign.
