Tomatoes from Intersemillas: ‘Your allies for controlling ToBRFV’

With this slogan, the seed company is presenting two new varieties of vine tomato resistant to this troublesome virus.
intersemillas

Jimena and Mesnada are these two varieties, which in addition to resistance to ToBRFV have other characteristics. Jimena is a long-cycle vine tomato, with significant hardiness and a deep red, slightly flattened fruit, with M Plus calibre and excellent behaviour against blossom end rot. And with the added value of resistances to TYLCV, Spotted and ToBRFV and a very good post-harvest.

Regarding Mesnada, it is also a vine tomato with triple protection (TYLCV, Spotted and ToBRFV), with similar characteristics to Jimena, differing in its rounder fruit; M calibre, intermediate hardiness and open leaves make it the most suitable variety for ecological crops. Both stand out due to their bright red colour throughout the growing cycle, good setting in hot weather, absence of fruit spotting in the winter and the important firmness of their fruit that gives them an excellent post-harvest.

In the plum tomato segment, Intersemillas is spotlighting the varieties Alcaraz and Ferrero.

It is worth mentioning that Alcaraz is perfect for export, with a small-medium, elongated oval-type fruit, with an average weight of 130 g. The hardiness of its plant in the winter period and the significant setting of the fruit stand out, maintaining the size throughout the cycle, with a bright colour in all the stages along with great consistency. It is a vigorous plant, with no teats in winter setting, without any fibre on the walls. With resistance to TYLCV, TSWV and ToBRFV.

Ferrero has an elongated oval-shaped fruit, slightly larger than Alcaraz, with an average weight of 140 g in long cycle. With good forming of the branches and consistency, bright colours in all its stages and no teats in winter setting. It is a plant with good hardiness, providing a significant production, which incorporates resistance to TYLCV and ToBRFV.

In pink beefsteak type tomatoes, Intersemillas has the light pink-coloured Roisin for medium-long cycle, with a GG calibre and between 4-5 fruit per branch. It maintains its size throughout the cycle, and is just as productive in the winter season, in addition to its important consistency. It is resistant to TYLCV and ToBRFV.

Other products

Intersemillas also competes with other products. In courgettes, they opt for ‘the art of colour’ with dark green, white, yellow and grey products. In peppers, Nabone stands out, a sweet Italian type that has already shown its incredible productivity. In melons, the incredible evolution of Corcel in piel de sapo typology stands out: a safe bet for early crops in Almeria, with excellent flavour and production, as well as homogeneous calibre. To finish, in watermelons they continue with the mini watermelon, Menina, which remains stable in ecological crops and differs from the others due to its low micro-seed content. And Estampa is the striated black watermelon, perfectly round and with a great production.
