Bollo International Fruits (Bollo) and The Natural Fruit Company (TNFC) have announced the agreement to combine their citrus fruit and melon businesses in order to offer a better service to their clients and to create a benchmark in the sector. The closing of the operation is subject to the approval by the competition authorities, amongst other conditions.
This milestone marks the beginning of a new phase, in which both companies, aimed at excellence and sustainability, will seek to exchange their best practices to the benefit of their clients, employees and suppliers and they will contribute to the professionalisation of the agrifood sector.
Since its founding, the Vercher family has guided the course of Bollo International Fruits (Benifairó de la Valldigna, Valencia) until consolidating a centenary company that sustains a great brand, a synonym of quality in its citrus fruits (oranges, clementines, lemons and grapefruit), melons and watermelons – amongst other fruit.
José Vercher, CEO of Bollo: “In TNFC we have found the perfect partner to continue developing the project our family started 100 years ago. We are very happy to be able to combine our businesses and look towards the future.”
Between the two companies, they have a total of over 7,000 ha of their own production of citrus fruit, melons and watermelons distributed over Spain, Brazil and Senegal – managed by a team specialised in agricultural engineering and R&D+i and, along with the farmers, who are closely linked to the company, they supply selected fruit to their centres in Benifairó and Alberic. The almost 180,000 t of fruit marketed every year by Bollo are added to the production managed by TNFC, reaching an annual volume marketed of around 480,000 t and providing service worldwide. The complementarity of the teams and the values of both companies uphold a project with a strong commitment to sustainability.
TNFC is joining a great brand, committed to the future of the employees and strengthening its Full Citrus Basket 12 months of the year, true to its vision: improving society’s quality of life with healthy fruit, protecting the land.
Antonio Alarcón, CEO of The Natural Fruit Company: “We are highly satisfied with the agreement reached with the Vercher family, thanks to which we will incorporate this centenary, innovative company to our project. At TNFC, we will be committed to the Bollo brand as the quality benchmark that it is. Over the past year, the Group has grown, integrating complementary companies. Our intention is to become a partner to our clients, becoming their reference in quality and accompanying them using the best practices in sustainability.”
Ricardo de Serdio, the Founding Associate and CEO de Fremman: “Since our entry to TNFC, we have been clear about the great value of the consolidation of a highly fragmented industry, as well as the benefits for its clients, who are guaranteed some growing quality standards, volumes, variety calendar and, in short, service. To do this, we will continue to support TNFC in its strategy, which without any doubt we value as being successful in the 18 months that have gone by, during which 4 acquisitions have been closed, all of them accumulating value.”
The Natural Fruit Company was assessed by Altamar Advisory Partners, Garrigues and PWC in the operation, while Bollo was advised by Broseta.
