Natural Tropic has made an investment to improve its crops and obtain greater yield and quality
Renew to become greater. This is the road map being followed by Natural Tropic. The company specialising in tropical fruit has spent years giving priority to its own production in order to provide value to its offer (in 2016/17 alone they added 150 hectares), and now they are taking another step forward with the variety renewal on their farms in Salobreña and Motril. The manager, Prudencio López, explains that the replacement of old trees for new ones allows a greater yield and higher quality to be obtained. Additionally, as they will have earlier and later varieties, they will cover the entire national production period.
Other advances that they have made recently are the enlargement of the ripening rooms and the implementation of technology to analyse the internal quality of the fruit using an infrared system.
Special mention should be made to their ecological segment, of which Natural Tropic already produces a quarter of the fruit it markets, reaching 180 hectares of its own ecological production.
For this campaign, the company led by López is forecasting an important increase in its invoicing (+10 million euros compared to the last campaign), reaching 40 million euros. “We are growing more and more nationally. This market already represents 35% of our total volume, when a few years ago it hardly reached 20%,” the manager explains to Fruit Today. Alongside its fresh line (avocados, mangos, custard apples, medlars, kumquats and papayas), the company from Malaga continues to extend its volumes in guacamole, a product that it markets nationally and that has been well received.
