“Our cauliflower production has increased five-fold”

Agrícola Navarro de Haro incorporated cauliflower to its range four years ago and over this period it has risen from one to five million pieces. In this campaign alone, they will grow by 25% compared to the previous year, according to the manager, José Alonso Navarro.

Within the brassica category, last year they introduced a new reference, broccoli, with 2.5 million kilos on 150 hectares already being produced. “We started selling it to other companies in Murcia, and this year we are going to market 50% ourselves directly to our clients.” Production started in October and it will continue until May with varieties from Sakata and Rijk Zwaan.

And if the broccoli adventure is showing positive results, the evolution of another of its most recent incorporations is even better: ecological aloe vera. “Clients emphasise the quality of the produce and they are very interested because it is a new development that is closely linked to health.” In 2018/19 they already had 5 hectares and a few months ago they planted another 12. “The aim is to reach 30 hectares in 3 years. We are going to work hard on this produce.”
