Between October 2024 and September 2025, Moroccan exporters shipped 8,200 tonnes of mandarins and clementines to Germany, with a total value of USD 12.1 million. This represents a 60% increase compared with the previous record set in the 2022/23 season. For the first time, export revenues exceeded USD 10 million.
Germany has not traditionally been a key destination for Moroccan mandarins. However, in the 2024/25 season its share reached 1.45% of Morocco’s total mandarin exports, lifting Germany to 11th place among importing countries.
Moroccan shipments typically start in October and peak between December and March. In the past season, the highest monthly volume was recorded in January, with 1,500 tonnes. While exports usually decline from April onwards and reach minimal levels during the summer, the 2024/25 season stood out for significantly higher volumes in April and May compared with previous years.

Spain remains Germany’s main supplier, accounting for more than 76% of total imports, although Spanish volumes have declined in recent years. This trend has opened opportunities for other origins. South Africa and Italy ranked second and third, with market shares of 11% and 4% respectively, while the remaining 9% came from other countries.
Morocco’s record growth has strengthened its position in the German market. Its share of total imports rose to 2.5%, up from 1.3% in the previous season. As a result of this volume increase, Morocco overtook Greece and Turkey to become the fourth-largest exporter of mandarins and clementines to Germany.
