Important prospects for Bio Montaña

The Spanish subsidiary of the Best Fresh Group has grown significantly since it was established in 2015.

In February it will celebrate just two years of life and during this time Bio Montaña, the company specialising in the marketing of ecological fruit and vegetables, has grown exponentially, doubling its invoicing in 2016. Also, for 2017 it predicts its income statement will continue growing by 50%, if everything goes according to plan.

“This year we are going to increase our own production with produce such as melons and mangetout peas (uncommon on ecological lines) and we are also extending our staff. Furthermore, we are in the middle of developing the Bio Montaña brand and creating the web site,”, the sales and marketing manager, Britta Saeger details.

The company’s aim is find itself an outstanding position in the ecological sector to defend a farming system the philosophy of which they completely identify with, due to its greater sustainability and environmentally-friendly aspects. The fact of belonging to a company as important as the Best Fresh Group means significant backing regarding international know-how and logistics. Therefore, they work alongside companies from the group such as Bio World and the new German subsidiary, BioFrucht Niederrhein GmbH, which has allowed them to extend their market share in Germany.

They are supplied by 100% of the production from Quality Life Produce, which started up last September with 60 hectares between covered and open air crops in the Granada area. In 2016 they marketed cucumbers, of which they produced 1,000 tonnes and in 2017 they have added green beans, which will make up 1,000 tonnes and they hope to reach 4,000 tonnes of their star produce, cucumbers. Along with Quality Life’s production, they also have a network of trustworthy farmers in the areas of Cadiz, Malaga, Granada and Almeria.

Currently over 95% of the produce that they market is exported all over Europe, ensuring the top guarantees of quality with certificates such as Global Gap, Sedex, BRC, IFS and Bio Suisse –these last ones having been obtained recently.

The sales team, formed by the General Manager Job van den Berg, the Salesman and Head of Logistics, Joseph de la Torre and the Saleswoman Britta Saeger, and Soraya de Ruiter for Administrative tasks, will be present at the next edition of Fruit Logistica to inform about their new developments, both in certificates and referring to their new image.
