UK purchases more than double
Among export destinations, the United Kingdom stands out in particular, with shipments from Murcia rising by 109%, more than doubling in value to exceed €56 million.
This growth confirms the importance of the UK market for a regional industry that has made a strong commitment to seedless varieties and consumer-oriented profiles adapted to international demand.

Twenty new varieties developed in Murcia
One of the main pillars of varietal development is the collaboration between the Murcian Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research and Development (IMIDA) and the Murcian Society for Table Grape Research and Technology (ITUM).
Their joint work has led to the development of 20 new seedless table grape varieties, expanding the options available to growers and strengthening the sector’s ability to respond to both commercial and production requirements.

According to the regional minister, the development of Murcia’s table grape sector is underpinned by a continued commitment to quality, innovation and the opening of new markets, factors that have helped consolidate its position both in Europe and in other international destinations.
Technology and sustainability
The importance of table grapes forms part of a wider agricultural sector in Murcia characterised by a high level of technological development.
The region has more than 80,000 agricultural workers and 87% of its irrigated land is equipped with advanced irrigation systems, compared with a national average of 57%.
Organic farming also accounts for a significant share of the regional agricultural area. Murcia has 113,611 certified organic hectares, representing 30.1% of its total cultivated area.
Varietal innovation, water-use efficiency and an export-oriented approach are therefore among the main pillars supporting Murcia’s leadership in seedless table grape production.
