L’Alcudia’s 2nd half marathon

On the 4th of October, the “Kaki Persimon®’s 2nd Half Marathon” took place in the town of L’Alcudia, organised by the Canso cooperative and the town’s Caixa Rural.

The event brought together over three thousand people at the cooperative’s gates, including participants and onlookers who came along to enjoy the sporting atmosphere.

The course started at the Avenida de la Cooperativa, with a thousand runners, many of them belonging to different clubs from the region. In the end, 615 runners managed to finish the 21,07 km course.

The half marathon started off with four kilometres in the town; thirteen running through L’Alcudia and Benimodo’s persimmon fields and four more through the town, finishing at the cooperative’s premises.

In the men’s category, Félix Pont won the trial, finishing the course in 1:09:14 and Irene Llario finished in 1:34.07 as the winner in the women’s category.

All the participants were given a package of health products, including some persimmons. And also, for every registered participant, the cooperative donated a kilo of food to the charity Caritas and the town’s Food Bank. Health, concentrated in persimmons and sport, combined with solidarity. Amongst the sponsors of the race and within their Corporate Social Responsibility areas were several companies from the sector, with Tecnidex and Roda Ibérica standing out. The former provided equipment for the participants and the latter, bottles of water.
