Mikonos, production potential

Within its pepper offer, Semillas Fitó has Mikonos, the leading variety in the late yellow California pepper segment.

Mikonos has a strong plant, recommended for transplanting from the 10th of August onwards, which gives production until the end of April. And it also has a good resistance package (L4 and spotted). Production is very high, with a high percentage of G calibres throughout the cycle, presenting quality fruit, with four well-defined lobes, a beautiful lemon-yellow colour, good firmness and endurance on the plant, along with an excellent post-harvest.

Fitó also offers the yellow California, Madagascar: a complement to the range with the same characteristics as Mikonos in late sowing, but with a shorter production period, reaching the end of March. Madagascar has an open plant structure, which allows the cycle to be speeded up compared to other varieties and the fruit from the second and third settings and crowns are quicker to develop and ripen.

Each farmer can choose between the two, depending on their personal requirements: if a crop is to be planted in Spring, ending production earlier, the choice must be Madagascar, and if the production is to be extended until the end of April, the choice must be Mikonos.*
