“Produce is our primary focus point”

This has been a year of changes for Tropical Millenium, both for shareholders and for the corporate structure.

Founded in 2002, Tropical Millenium is defined as a company that offers comprehensive solutions for the purchase, sale and marketing of avocados, mangos and papayas.

A brand new methodology has generated new teams for the different areas: quality, sales, marketing, logistics, etc., using these as the Andalusian company’s starting point.

The company’s main lynchpins are the produce and the end consumer. “Discovering the concerns at the sales outlet and offering the necessary quality to consumers is Tropical Millenium’s primary focus point”, states Javier Fernández, an executive from the Malaga-based company.

According to him, “the avocado is a product that does not show its over-ripeness or bad appearance on the shelves as other products do, therefore it can be easy to make a bad purchase due to the fact that the fruit is green, very ripe and/or black on the inside. For this reason it is important for all the agents to work on the quality to ensure that the product generates positive experiences and the purchase is repeated”.

Miguel Ángel Páez, the company’s manager emphasises that “to obtain the ideal ripeness development, order programmes must be used, although this sector’s rhythm sometimes does not make this easy”.

Regarding the markets, Fernández states that “we are living in a completely globalised world where all the purchasers have prices from all the sources. Our work model concentrates on the produce and not the source; although we have a special interest in the local campaigns from our region, Axarquía.”

The new marketing department, headed by Vanessa Moreno has been working on new produce strategies and development. The new reference, m from Premium, is worth mentioning, characterised as being a brand name with high quality as well as attractive packaging, aimed at the most demanding palates.
