“What does really feed us? How is it grown? What resources does it use? What nutritional benefits does it bring? At Cooperativa La Palma we concentrate on answering these questions with a real commitment, guaranteeing a quality product that consumers can choose, consciously and with knowledge, ensuring that what they eat not only satisfies their palate, but that it also feeds both them and the planet in a healthy way.” Acknowledging this agricultural commitment and putting it at the centre of their productivity goal marks a difference when facing up to the challenge of feeding humanity.
“At Cooperativa La Palma the idea of cultivation in a sustainable, healthy and tasty way is our lifeblood, motivates us and it makes us proud. We work towards doing it well and ensuring an agriculture and a future with quality, with respect and with knowledge.” A mission that they will show at Fruit Logística 2024.
Vegetables and original, 100% healthy plant-based proposals, committed to consumer health and to the future of the planet. Circular economy and complete use of the produce, with total control over the entire process, from sowing to marketing, using the premises of sustainability and exploitation.
At Cooperativa La Palma, the challenge of feeding in the future drives them forward. “Being positioned as the largest Cherry tomato and specialities producer in Spain and a reference in Europe in the production and marketing of Cherry tomatoes and speciality mini vegetables allows us to project a much deeper dimension of farming, guiding us to make a firmly positive impact on the planet and on food.” Proof of this is the latest prize they have received: Producer of the Year at the Auténtica Excellence Awards 2023.
The current context of globalisation and uncertainty sets forth a veritable challenge. In La Palma they have been aware of this and working on it for decades. They planned ahead, thinking in terms of quality and safety, consumption experience and sustainability with an ambitious Research, Sustainability and Digitalisation Plan, based on the reduction of the water and carbon footprints, on research and on innovation in all the processes and products, particularly as regards Zero Waste. All of this together results in a more sustainable and richer agriculture in every respect, which allows them to exceed themselves, campaign after campaign.
“Our aim is to apply this strategy, while maintaining our farmers’ productivity and profitability. And our clients’ confidence as well. This is translated into continuing to do well what we are already doing; always with the challenge of optimising the excellent natural resources we have in Granada, in line with the SDGs and the European Green Deal. With an important commitment to generate added value to consumers with a clear social responsibility and a participative management.”
A commitment that is defined in their growing methods, for example, with the ‘Green Energy’ Project. A pioneer in the Agrifood sector in Spain, it centres on exploiting the sun to develop a 100% renewable and efficient energy, using a decentralised energy model that is fair, efficient and collaborative.
The same commitment as with the use of the comprehensive management of pests and ‘Zero Waste’ biological control that they carry out, or the reduction of the water footprint, on which they are working by increasing investments in technology to improve the crop irrigation system, amongst others. They also have plans for reducing agricultural plastic, as well as for sustainable packaging solutions.
In order to continue showing that what really feeds us correctly, they will be present at the new edition of Fruit Logística 2024, where they will display their innovative solutions for this new challenge of healthy, tasty and sustainable farming: a magnificent selection of vegetables and latest generation ready-cooked products. A true project of circular economy, sustainability and excellent use of resources. Delicious, 100% natural preparations, based on their fresh produce, presented in innovative formats, such as Salmorejo and Gazpacho or vegetable creams, vegetable bluefin tuna, vegetable sauces or vegan hamburgers. New concepts that they are presenting on the market in innovative proposals, all of them made using their own raw material for the maximum use of the fresh produce. Therefore, giving a second life to their fresh produce, recognised in the sector for its flavour and quality, but with a life cycle that does not allow them to travel, although they maintain their nutritional values and flavour intact.
“In addition to convenience products, we are working on groundbreaking, natural snacks and attractive products to help cooking. We have always tried to be leaders in transformation. And this means we have to work as a community, with a common strategy. Our focus lies on creating shared value and promoting policies and practices that strengthen the competitiveness, not only of our company, but of the agricultural sector as a whole. And that guarantee a sustainable future for everyone.”
They continue innovating, after some categorical successes such as the tomato Amela ®: Fruit Logística Innovation Award 2022, the most prestigious prize worldwide in the fruit and vegetable sector, which set a new milestone, revolutionising the European market. “We continue with this innovative journey in the food industry and consolidating the gourmet specialities, presenting a new, ambitious undertaking which, once again, is seeking excellence.” Taiyoo ® is their latest creation. It is an unprecedented project, select and completely original, which will make even the consumers with the most demanding tastes fall in love. “Taiyoo ® is a symbol of light, life and fire. Of perfection. A beautiful piece that submerges us in the sophisticated Japanese culture. A melon that is born from the art of perfection, grown under the seductive light of Andalusia. A sublime experience that we will start to discover at Fruit Logística 2024”.
