Orsero Group, a European benchmark in the import and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables, and Trucco Group, one of the leading distributors of fresh produce in the United States, have announced a strategic alliance that will enable both companies to grow in key markets and generate significant operational efficiencies.
Nick Pacia, owner and CEO of Trucco, will retain the majority stake and operational leadership of the company, ensuring full continuity in the commercial relationships, corporate culture and expertise that have made Trucco a point of reference in the US fresh produce sector. The agreement has been structured to evolve over time, reflecting the shared ambition of both parties to progressively strengthen their commitment to the alliance.
With facilities in the Bronx, New York, and Vineland, New Jersey, Trucco Group markets and distributes a wide range of fresh produce, including kiwifruit, blueberries, citrus, cherries, garlic, chestnuts and nuts. Orsero, a specialised distributor with strong expertise in high value-added products, offers a complementary range that will enrich Trucco’s current product portfolio. Both companies will leverage these synergies to strengthen their capabilities and create new opportunities for their customers.
Nick Pacia, owner and CEO of Trucco, said: “Trucco has built its success by putting customers and employees first, and by making sound decisions that drive sustainable long-term growth. Orsero is the ideal partner to help us consolidate these foundations. Together, Trucco and Orsero will be able to reinforce their shared commitment to offering fresh produce of the highest quality through fully integrated sourcing and distribution networks.”
Leadership, relationships and commitment to excellence
“For me, it was important that this alliance preserved what has driven Trucco’s success over generations: the leadership, relationships and commitment to excellence that our partners and employees know and trust,” Pacia added. “We look forward to continuing to advance our common goals of expanding Trucco’s activities in the United States and Canada, and broadening the range of products we can offer our customers.”
A central element of the agreement is management continuity. Nick Pacia will remain in his leadership role, while Raffaella Orsero, Vice President and CEO of Orsero, and Matteo Colombini, CEO of Orsero, will join Trucco’s Board of Directors alongside Sasha LoPresti, Vice President of Trucco, and Nicholas Pacia, Chief Operating Officer of Trucco.
Raffaella Orsero, Vice President and CEO, and Matteo Colombini, CEO of Orsero, commented: “Today marks a historic moment for Orsero: for the first time, we are entering the United States, the largest and most dynamic fresh produce consumer market in the world. Orsero’s investment in Trucco represents a transformational milestone for the Group, offering the opportunity to establish a position in a new geography that will play a fundamental role in our future growth. The United States is an expanding market, rich in opportunities and commercial synergies, and characterised by growing demand for fresh produce.”
