
Netherlands-based tomato breeding company Totam Seeds International is boosting its reputation as a source of high-quality new varieties by sponsoring the Global Tomato Congress.
The innovative breeding company, which was recently acquired by Japanese company Mitsui & Co, is supporting Fruitnet’s annual event for the fresh tomato business on 16 March with a sponsorship.
Founded in 2010, Totam specializes in developing tomato varieties for professional cultivation in high-tech greenhouses – focusing especially on large and medium-sized cluster varieties, cocktail types, and cherry tomatoes of different sizes and colours.
Its broad selection of certified seeds is available in countries around the world, offering those markets unique flavor, superior fruit quality and high yields.
Working closely with Dutch growers’ organization Prominent since 2014, Totam Seeds’ breeding program has expanded considerably in the past few years. More than 210 new crosses have been successfully created so far, with 50 of those varieties taken forward into trials.
The seed company’s selection process is based on totally certified research, development and production criteria, which meet the highest health and quality standards. Its working method also includes in-depth quality tests, in compliance with guidelines issued by the business chain system Good Seed and Plant Practices.
