Global Plant Genetics (GPG) has won the Website category at the Estrellas de Internet Awards 2026. The award was announced at Fruit Attraction, recognising a website developed through months of work and research to make plant genetics information more accessible to those who need it.
Launched in May 2026 during the first-ever UCD–GPG Strawberry Nursery Congress, the website marked an important step in how GPG shares information with growers, nursery partners and the wider industry.
Its development centred on a practical goal: helping visitors find and understand the information relevant to their crops, growing conditions and commercial needs. Months of research, planning and content development shaped a platform that brings technical variety information and resources together in a clear, accessible format.
GPG’s platform
Dedicated crop sections and individual variety pages help visitors explore GPG’s platform, while filtering tools support the search for varieties suited to different climates and production requirements. Alongside technical resources, the website provides news and insights to keep visitors informed about developments across GPG’s programmes.

For GPG, the award recognises both the work behind the launch and the website’s purpose: connecting advances in plant breeding with the people putting those genetics into commercial production around the world.
GPG was proud to be shortlisted alongside an outstanding group of companies. To have its work considered alongside theirs was an honour in itself, making the Website award especially meaningful.
GPG thanks Fruit Today and the judging panel for the recognition, as well as everyone who contributed to the website’s development, and congratulates all the other winners and finalists on their achievements.
