Cricket: developing the entire cabbage range

Campo de Lorca’s business activity just never ends. Along with improving all its processes, the company is seeking a major expansion with the development of the entire cabbage range.

The company’s business concern is evident. After carrying out an important enlargement of its installations, the company managed by Juan Marín is setting out business strategies based on increasing its winter vegetable portfolio and incorporating new references.

Kale is one of the new products that is showing the best business response. The company is also working with cauliflowers, artichokes and Charentais melons in the summer season. In addition, it has incorporated the both broccoli and cauliflowers to its bio line. “The cabbage range is very extensive and our next commercial target is to tackle this diversification, taking advantage of our specialisation in this category.”

Furthermore, aimed at improving both the quality of the produce and the costs and optimising the resources, Campo de Lorca is taking on an agro-efficiency audit that will affect all the company’s different departments.

“This new improvement will take almost two years and we will try to perfect our organisation as much as possible, along with the work processes: production, quality, technical and sales departments, etc. We want to get ready for the next 20 years”, the executive adds.

On the subject of infrastructures, the company from Lorca has just started up the new packaging lines located in the recently extended installations.

Moreover, its activity on the markets is intense and some of the destinations considered to be emerging for the sector are already mature markets for the company. In this position are the countries in the Persian Gulf, with which it has been working for over five years now.

Other business lines are opening up on the American continent for Cricket. “Canada is finding a safe reference supply area in Murcia and Almeria, which also meets the strict demands required. And this is crucial because it means a further step towards the United States,” the businessman concludes.
