Origene Group consolidates its activity

In under a year, the Italian consortium Origene Group has consolidated as one of the leading operators on the market.

Its production capacity exceeds 120,000 tonnes, which means 25% of the Italian production and 19% of the European kiwi production.

The Italian sweet kiwi Sweeki is its marketing star, the origin of which is related to the main Italian production regions: Lacio, Veneto, Emilia Romana, Piamonte, Calabria and FriuliGiulia.

The new group is formed by the companies Spreafico, Kiwi-Uno, Apofruit, KiwiSole, AssociazioneFrutticoltori Estense, Frutta C2, Salvi, Pempacorer and Zani.

“Our aim is to offer top quality kiwis, along with pears, to new markets. In order to do this, we will place special emphasis on variety innovation and obviously, on product promotion”, explains the manager, Federico Milanese.

In order to obtain a Premium product, the group’s members have adapted to some quality standards that are homogeneous for all of them: a careful selection of the fruit; a harvest collected at the perfect point of ripeness and an exhaustive control throughout the preparation process.

In this way, Sweeki has managed to position itself on the market as a Premium product, with a sweet, refined taste that confirms its high organoleptic quality.

The new kiwi is presented in a tray format, containing 3 and 10 kilos and it is available from November until April.

The classic green Sweeki is now accompanied by the red Sweeki, a sweeter variety, with a very aromatic flavour and a high sugar level, rich in vitamin C (185mg per 100gr, compared to 85 mg in the Hayward variety and 50 mg contained in oranges).
