Following two highly successful editions in Europe, Planasa proudly hosted its first Meet & Greet event in the United States at its facilities in Watsonville, California, marking a significant milestone as the company continues to strengthen its presence and partnerships across North America.

The event also represented a unique achievement in the industry, as it was the first time a breeding company brought together shippers, retailers, and growers from across the United States, Mexico, and even Spain in a single gathering.

More than 50 participants attended the event, taking part in blind tastings featuring varieties from the four berry categories — strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries and engaging in an in-depth tour of Planasa’s promising strawberry breeding pipeline. The showcased portfolio demonstrated the company’s ability to deliver high-quality varieties tailored to diverse growing regions, including Santa Maria and Oxnard in California, Baja California, Central Mexico, and even Canada.

The Meet & Greet provided a valuable platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and strengthening partnerships across the supply chain. Attendees expressed strong enthusiasm for both the quality of the varieties presented and the opportunity to connect with industry peers in such a collaborative setting.

“This event highlights Planasa’s commitment to innovation and to building strong relationships across the industry,” said Michael Brinkmann, CEO of the Company. “We are proud to bring together key players from different regions to share insights and explore the future of strawberry production together.”

The positive reception of the event reinforces Planasa’s position as a global leader in berry breeding and nursery and its growing presence in the North American market.
