Once again, Rijk Zwaan will open the doors of its CED La Palma facility to welcome industry professionals during weeks 26 (national event) and 27 (international event), presenting its latest melon and watermelon solutions.
This year, everything revolves around “the future and the shape the market is taking,” explains Bernardo Cuenca, Global Melon & Watermelon Coordinator for EMEA at the company.
Throughout these two weeks, the Rijk Zwaan team will present not only varieties, but above all concepts aimed at addressing the major challenges facing the fruit and vegetable value chain.
Diversity in melon
In melon, the proposal embraces the full diversity of typologies on a global scale.
Export-oriented piel de sapo melon will be represented through the Mellissimo concept as its flagship reference; long shelf-life segments will include both orange-fleshed materials (Harper and Cantaloupe) as well as Asian germplasm.
In the green-fleshed category, visitors will find Galia melons, both aromatic and long shelf-life types, Honeydew and additional Asian materials.
Export yellow melon will complete a showcase designed to reflect the broad range of opportunities that the company offers across markets worldwide.
From 1 to 20 kilos: a watermelon for every market
In watermelon, the portfolio ranges from 1 to 20 kilograms, with and without seeds, featuring red, yellow and orange flesh, as well as different rind types.
The common thread throughout the portfolio is flavour.
