2nd Stone Fruit Congress

On the 10th of March, Murcia closed the 2nd edition of the National Stone Fruit Congress, an event promoted by Agromarketing and with Fruit Today as its media partner.

In the Marketing section, the 1st Spanish-Chinese Forum was held, moderated by the editor of Fruit Today, Carmen Cabra. The Asian giant’s market is a highly attractive destination for both producers and marketers. The opening of the doors to Spanish stone fruit, which has occurred with the signing of the export protocol, meant the first deliveries were sent last year. However, progress must be made on aspects such as the search for varieties adapted to eastern consumers’ tastes “very sweet, large, pink-coloured fruit…”, as emphasised from China in Crowd and the increase in shelf life, to ensure that the fruit survives the longer journey in optimum conditions. Esther Gómez, from Frutas Esther; Hicham Nader, from DHL Global Forwarding; Martín García, from China in Crowd; Isabel Royo, from KIWA España; Eduardo Cadenas, from Anserlog; and Fermín Rol, from the Cartagena Port Authority debated all these points.
