The company is launching the new full-flavoured specialities Harrison, Rosamary and Laloba, for different culinary uses.
This campaign, the agrifood company Grupo Caparrós has added new proposals to its tomato range. These are: Harrison, a bright red, smooth tomato that stands out due to its firmness and flavour; Laloba, a very tasty tomato that is particularly good for spreading; and Rosamary. These are added to the range presided over by the jewel in the crown, the Lobello cherry tomato, which has been awarded the Flavour of the Year prize by Spanish consumers two years running and has been distinguished with three gold stars at the Brussels Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi) event.
In spite of a situation that has been marked by a drop in surface area for tomato crops in Almeria, as well as by the pandemic, which has particularly affected the catering sector and the Horeca channel, Grupo Caparrós aims to maintain its current marketing volumes. “The situation is difficult, but we are managing to stay firm,” say sources from Caparrós.
Additionally, this year they are taking a further step in the promotion of their star Cherry tomato with the incorporation of Vicente del Bosque as the image for Lobello. “We are very happy. Vicente del Bosque is an exceptional person, as well as a great trainer and sportsman. We believe that he embodies the values that identify our company, amongst others, his commitment, closeness, competitiveness, teamwork, dedication and his will to succeed. Now that the campaign has started, we have planned different actions with him, including a visit to our company and different activities in Almeria.”
Another important, new development is the incorporation of the chef from Almeria Yolanda García, the widely experienced, current chef at the Posada del Candil. “Her cooking goes beyond a mere recipe; it involves emphasising a culture, a tradition and some ingredients that connect people and nature. We think that the team formed by Yolanda García and Antonio Gázquez, our master chef and author of all the Gergaleña recipes, is going to contribute a great deal to the Group.”
In general, the campaign that is just starting will be characterised by the uncertainty due to the worldwide pandemic. “Although it is true that the sector has known how to stand up to Covid-19 and to struggle on without stopping the activity at any time, it also true that the difficult health, economic and social crisis is affecting it.”
