Expolevante doubles its space

At its 14th edition there will be 8,000 metres of surface area and 250 stands

The event emerged in the 1990s, and since then it has gone from around a score of stands to 250 at the edition that will open its doors on from the 18th to the 20th of April at the Campohermoso Exhibition and Conference Centre. Expolevante’s dynamism has gone hand in hand with the growth of a thriving agricultural sector, which currently makes up 9,058 hectares in the region (62.8% in Níjar, with 5,689 Hectares), and that in 2017 alone grew by over 200 hectares, as confirmed by the Government delegate of the Junta de Andalusia, Gracia Fernández, during the presentation of the event.

This ‘showcase’ for the province’s economic driver has become a “national and international reference” and proof of this are its figures: in 2016 it recorded 40,000 visitors and at this, its 14th edition, the organisation has had to double the space available to attend to the demand from companies wanting to be present at the event, 130 in total.

Differentiated spaces

This year the trade fair will have 8,000 m² of surface area, divided up into two spaces: an inner hall of 4,200 metres with 160 exhibitors and another outer hall with a marquee of 1,575 metres and 66 exhibitors, in addition to the motor area (agricultural machinery and commercial vehicles), with 3,800 metres and another 22 stands.

Added to all this, there will be a conference room and two classrooms, where presentations of topics of interest and great relevance to the sector may be followed and where any company that requests it may put on talks or training activities.

The trade fair will be opened on the 18th of April at 12 am and it will be open from 11 am to 9 pm daily until the 20th of April.

A trade fair for farmers

The Mayoress of Níjar recalled the beginnings of Expolevante, 28 years ago, an initiative by the Asociación Expositora de Campohermoso, which is taking part in the organisation of this edition. “In 1990 the trade fair was small and the companies who came to it were in full contact with the farmers; it was a meeting point, an aspect that continues to be characteristic of Expolevante and one of its differentiating elements.” Maintaining this premise, the trade fair now strives to move forward towards the new 2.0 model that represents Nijar, with a “more ecological, more technologically advanced agriculture, with deeply established commercial processes, which allow it to go increasingly further on markets and in profitability.”
