Statistics can now be used to show that avocados are the latest fashion in fruit and consumption that just keeps on increasing.
The nutritional goodness of the avocado has been described by many scientists and now a new horizon is opening up for producers and marketers: avocado oil.
A company from Valencia, Valls Tropik, and a firm from Malaga, Tropical Milenium, are working together as suppliers of “Molí D`Oli Mas Montseny”, the mill that will prepare the oil obtained from this tropical fruit.
Extra virgin avocado oil, extracted either by pressing or cold spinning from the pulp, has a chemical composition that is very similar to olive oil and has even higher levels of vitamin E, beta-sitosterol and chlorophyll and lower levels of squalene and polyphenols. In the same way as olive oil, it is responsible for decreasing so-called bad cholesterol and increasing ‘good’ cholesterol.
