In the past year alone, the company has distributed 400 million kilos of Spanish fruit and vegetable products, representing a 4% increase compared to the previous year.

Of this volume, more than half—250 million kilos—are marketed within Spain, while the remaining 150 million kilos are destined for export. The company acts as the largest export platform for domestic producers, enabling fruit and vegetables grown in regions such as Valencia, Andalusia, Murcia and Catalonia to reach countries including France, Romania, Belgium and Poland in record time.

90% of its fresh produce suppliers are based in Spain

Support for the local economy is a constant commitment for Carrefour: 90% of the fresh products it markets come from Spain, and in terms of fruit and vegetable suppliers, it has a network of 300 producers across the country. Last year alone, 40 new producers joined its supply chain.

In addition, Carrefour works with small-scale farmers who supply directly to stores located close to their production areas. For example, Carrefour has become a benchmark in the marketing of locally sourced tomatoes, thanks to more than 40 agreements with KM0 producers, allowing stores to be supplied with tomatoes harvested in less than 24 hours.

Carrefour’s commitment to Spanish agriculture is also reflected in the development of fruit and vegetable products through its private labels. The company offers customers and members of the Carrefour Club more than 40 types of fruit and vegetables under the “Círculo de Calidad” label, which guarantees agroecological practices aimed at preserving authentic flavour.

In addition, its range includes more than 250 Carrefour BIO fruit and vegetable products, positioning Carrefour as a benchmark in organic food retail in Spain.
