Deilor is an agricultural cooperative with more than 30 years of experience in the Guadalentín Valley, an area traditionally dedicated to brassica crops such as broccoli, cauliflower and Bimi®. It manages around 3,000 hectares of its own production and operates through a structure based on 15 grower members, with 100% local production.
The company handles an annual production of approximately 80,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables, distributed across winter campaigns focused on brassicas (broccoli, Bimi®, cauliflower, etc.) and leafy vegetables (iceberg lettuce, romaine, Little Gem…), and summer campaigns featuring melon (cantaloupe, Galia, piel de sapo), watermelon (striped and black) and seedless grapes (white, black and red).
Bimi®: an emerging crop in Spain
Deilor has been working with this crop for around 10 years, with particularly significant growth over the last five. In 2025, the cooperative planted 12.6 million Bimi® plants.
In Spain, market penetration remains limited, currently representing only between 3% and 5% of the cooperative’s sales.
By contrast, markets such as the United Kingdom — its main destination — as well as Germany and France, show a higher level of development, with active programmes in organised retail.
Outlook
Antonio Ávalos, General Manager of Deilor, defends the crop’s potential: “Bimi® has incredible development potential because we are practically starting from zero.”
“Our growers prioritise quality over quantity. We want to take great care of the product so that it remains profitable. Right now, it is the most stable crop in terms of profitability,” says Ávalos.

“At Deilor, we have generational renewal secured because we make sure the product we offer growers remains profitable and encourages second and third generations to continue working in agriculture,” adds Juan Francisco Abellaneda, president of the cooperative.
Infrastructure and quality control
The company’s facilities cover 60,000 m² and have recently undergone expansion, including a new plant in 2023, a second warehouse in 2025 and further improvements in storage and production in 2026.
The cooperative operates at least three separate warehouses according to product type, including one dedicated exclusively to Bimi®. It also has eight cold rooms where variables such as temperature, humidity and gases including CO₂ and ethylene are monitored — all essential for product preservation.
