2022 is important for Ecoinver, as it is celebrating 15 years as a company. For this significant date, they have decided for the first time to come as exhibitors to Fruit Attraction. Amongst the new developments they are bringing to this reference meeting in the sector are its upgraded catalogue, with improved fruit and vegetable specialities, increasingly adapted to the new market trends. In addition to Ecoinver Export, Ecoinver BIO will also be present, established at the end of 2021, with which it will also present an extensive catalogue of specialities holding ecological and biodynamic certificates. Finally, and although this is not a new development, they will also give special relevance to their mini cucumber brand, MiniGu, with which they repeat their important commitment to sustainable development goals and a different way of offering the end product.

Summary and forecasts

Ismael Segura Martín, manager of Ecoinver, sums up the 2021/22 financial year. A “complicated campaign in all senses. The social climate, submerged in the conflict and the rise in costs, have meant that the campaign was more complicated than expected.” Regarding the figures, production reached nearly 30 million kilos (over 8 million of the company’s star product, the mini cucumber), and they exceeded 250 ha of product, of which 190 were destined to cucumber specialities such as mini or snack cucumbers.

Its categorical commitment to specialities (mini, snack cucumbers, sweet bite, spicy peppers and pink grooved tomatoes, amongst others) should be highlighted, as they represent over 65% of the sales compared to traditional typologies.

A leap forward

In 2022/23 the company will increase production, reaching 45 million kg. “We are going to vary the surface area of all our products as the company is growing, in line with the demand by our customers and our production capacity. We also estimate a campaign similar to the previous one, with similar prices for materials and energy, which will once again cause a complication for all the producers.”

As a new development, a line of Pink Grooved Tomatoes stands out with an improved product, along with the rest of the fruit and vegetable specialities, which are increasingly adapted to consumer and market requirements.
