The Valencian Association of Farmers (AVA-ASAJA) and the Business Association for the Protection of Plants (AEPLA) presented the Experimental Farm ‘Sinyent’ to the media, which was started up in 2011 in Polinyà de Xúquer (Valencia) and is now beginning to give its first fruits, after five years’ work.
Cristóbal Aguado, chairman of AVA-ASAJA, explains that “it is an example of ‘local research’ imagined, conceived and designed for carrying out trials and transferring technology easily and efficiently to the members of AVA-ASAJA, which allows them to be equipped with the essential tools to face up to challenges the future will bring”.
The farm, which covers 25.30 hectares, brings together suitable weather and soil conditions and the correct size for the agronomical trials. These are carried out on over 20 different crops: citrus fruits, persimmons, olives, almonds, walnuts, carobs, cherries, blueberries, flat nectarines, flat peaches, peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, pomegranates, litchis, avocados, kiwis, table grapes, wine-making grapes, vegetables, rice and forestry.
